BROADCAST DIRECTOR StANDARDS
Attend worship and production huddle at 6:15 Thursday and 8:15 Sunday in the green room. It is important for you to be part of the production meeting which follows pre-service prayer to review the order of service to know what will happen throughout the day.
We think of the big picture, while also working on details. How does what you’re doing affect the overall vision?
(These are starting points not rules. Every situation calls for creative attention.)
It is your responsibility to get the shots desired out of the camera operators. Push them towards excellence.
MESSAGE AND HOST MOMENTS:
Open and close on wide shot.
Stay on Camera 1 for 90% of message.
Switch to wide shots when audience is responding or screen needs to be seen.
Don’t stay on any other camera angle longer that 5 seconds.
Stay on Camera 1 during lower third graphics.
Avoid shots where speaker’s back is to the camera.
If adjustments need to be made on a camera that is live, cut away from it for the adjustment moment.
WORSHIP:
Open and close each song on wide shot unless instrument is obvious transition.
Much faster editing pace that message. No more than 10 seconds on any shot.
Stay on song leader 75% of each song.
Cut to instrument shots during interludes.
