If You Don’t Stay Committed to the Church... The Next Generation Misses Out
Every generation has the responsibility to pass down the message of Jesus to the next. Psalm 145:4 says, “One generation will commend your works to another; they will tell of your mighty acts.” But if you don’t stay committed to the church, who will guide, teach, and inspire the next generation to follow Jesus? Without a thriving, engaged church, an entire generation of children and young adults may grow up without ever experiencing the life-changing power of the gospel.
Research from Barna shows that over 60% of young adults who grew up in church end up walking away from it by their twenties. But here’s the good news: the same studies reveal that young people are more likely to remain in their faith when they’ve had meaningful relationships with adults in the church. This is where your role becomes critical. Your presence and commitment show the next generation what it means to live a life centered on Jesus.
The church is uniquely positioned to provide spiritual formation, guidance, and mentorship that children and teens won’t find anywhere else. Peak City Kids, YTH, and High leaders, and even those who simply serve as greeters all play a part in shaping a young person’s view of God and faith. Every time you serve, pray, or invest in the church, you’re contributing to a legacy of faith that impacts generations to come. I love that our church is full of so many young people. It’s one of the things I believe that God is most proud of when He looks at Peak City.
Imagine a world where the next generation grows up without a committed church family to lean on. Who will teach them to pray, show them what godly love looks like, or help them navigate life’s challenges with faith? By staying connected, you ensure that the church remains a safe haven and a spiritual training ground for the young people who will one day carry the torch.
If you don’t stay committed to the church, the next generation misses out on the guidance and hope they desperately need. But when you invest in the church, you’re investing in a future where faith continues to thrive. Don’t underestimate the power of your example—your commitment can inspire a legacy of faith that will echo for years to come.
